HP Zeen Tablet

HP has just unveild this Zeen Tablet it is made to be sold with a printer, there is little aesthetic design that you expect from a separate tablet. It is not waterproof and sexy, but most Zeen is a projection on the back, partly to accommodate the ports and slots (dock printer port, mini-USB, SD card slot that supports SDHC, but does not recognize SDHC cards). And weighs 1.5 kg, equivalent to a 9.7-inch iPhone, but only has a 7 inch screen.

At first glance, Zeen, it seems that the pill. In addition to the edges a little wider around its capacitive touch screen and tactile buttons on the border in landscape mode (as opposed to portrait), Zeen seems Android tablet on my desk at this time.

But you can keep the device in portrait mode (and display settings), is designed for use in landscape mode. Home button, back and on the menu, all made in the upper right corner, while the bottom docking port of the printer. Tablets need to use the printer - without it going away.

Interestingly, however, the printer software does not dominate the screen, or the largest flash default home screen - two things that are contrary to the position of trying Zeen and specific HP printer. When enabled, the application provides a printer button on a conventional touch screen to copy, scan, or fax (via eFax). But these are buried under the printer icon, which is one of the six small icons at the bottom of the screen. Internet, Facebook, HP Gallery, Yahoo Daily Digest, and Yahoo mail. No sign of Google Mail and Android Market, but the device does the general lack of services according to Google.

Expand the menu by pressing the up arrow icon on the board, and see other applications that come preinstalled. Suddenly, they look much more like the Android market, with version 2.1 operating system - is full of icons hide - on board. HP says it will boost Android 2.2 update for "early 2011" (and the new transport units will be delivered after a 2.2 pre-installed). Main screen of the skin, looks a bit different from the Android market, with a selection of widgets and three home screens to suit. The opening screen has a module for Barnes & Noble, time module, and four applications that are ready to print - more or less. The four - Disney, Yahoo, DreamWorks, and MSNBC - Internet connection is only required to start.

Zeen has a great interface and design, sports, high-resolution 1024 x 600 pixel screen, the same resolution as the Samsung Galaxy, and Tab. However, the screen looks Zeen everything in their power to distract people from using the device as a special shelf. The relatively small 800 x 480 pixels makes reading on the Zeen unpleasant.

Verdict:
Zeen (physical design) it seems, is not optimized for use in tablet form, the same can be said about its interface. In my hands, in the tests, the capacitive touch screen is often slow and unresponsive, the attributes that is due to the internal components (Freescale i.MX51 800 MHz, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory), orpossibly due to poor quality, capacitive touch. If HP did not skimp, instead, is a competitive showcase and good components inside and outside HP Zeen tablet is a niche, despite its awkward design. And you could say you buy $ 400 C510 printer and get useful treatment tablet with Android, however, at present, HP Zeen only one step up - a small step - some tablets Android general, we have seen, sold directly in Chinese factories. If you buy Photosmart C510 This season, buy only as a printer, and nothing more.
