Blogger and Wordpress On Page Optimization

There are two things we need to optimize in our site the On Page and Off Page, but today our focused is On Page optimization. There's no need to hire SEO experts just to ensure that you are doing the right On Page Optimization, you yourself can do these things also.

Optimizing Domain Name

There are things to be considered in choosing the domain name of your website, one of this is the relevancy of the domain to your topics. Also, if possible there are at least one keyword in your domain that you want to be ranked in Search Engines. This is an old trick in the On Page Optimization, and according to other webmaster's observation, it helps in other long-tail keywords to be ranked in Google. For example the keyword in your domain is "computer" you might not rank in keyword "computer", but, you might rank in Google with this long tail keyword "computer in our life". So having a computer in your domain does not have any effect for a short keywords, but it might have an impact for a long-tail keywords.

Use HTTPS instead of HTTP

On August 6, 2014 Google announced on their Webmaster Central blog that they will use HTTPS as one of the ranking signals on SEO. Google said at the beginning of their post Security is a top priority for Google. They encouraging all webmasters to use HTTPS to secure their website and to provide their visitor a secured services. However, they also said that HTTPS has only less than 1% signal on search engine ranking.

We all know that HTTPS can only be used if you have your own hosting account or self hosted site. At this time the blogger platform can't use HTTPS but we're looking forward in the next years to come that Google will use HTTPS as their default encrypted connection in their blogger tool.

Optimizing Blog Post Title

Having the keywords in your post title is a good practice for On Page Optimization, but, it is better to focus on long tail keywords rather than short tail keywords only. The main reason for this, is long tail keywords have a less competition in the search engines than short tail keywords, the less competition the greater the chance to have your site in first page.

This is the most important thing that a blogger should know. Google announced that their updates on their algorithm also focus on their search engine users to provide them a better Google search result. This means that when a user search a keywords in search engine Google is picking an article only which it thinks it can give not only accurate ideas but also a good article to read. Keep it mind also that Google is very smart to determine whether your article is original or not. Providing a quality content to your visitor is also the main reason why your visitor keeps coming back to your site.

Keywords Density

This is one of the important things we must know about On Page Optimization. Keywords density is all about how many times you used your keywords in your article or page. Let's say you have 500 words in your article and you write your keywords 10 times, your keywords density is 2%. The average keywords density used by most blogger is 1.5% - 3% only to avoid keywords stuffing or spamming the Search Engine. Why keywords density is important? Google penalizes all websites that are using too much keywords in their article, so when you think logically keywords density has a big effect in the Google ranking.

Optimizing Images

Optimizing images in every post on your website help your images to appear in Google image result and it will lead traffic to your website. To optimize your images the first thing you do is to make it sure you are using only the type of images that Google can index, these include JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, SVG and WebP. The next step is to have title text and alt text to your images. Obviously, in the title text you will put the title of the image you have and in the alt text is the description of the image you're going to use.
